Why start a newsletter?
In 2017, I joined SharpestMinds as one of the first employees. I knew very little about business, startups, or programming. I dove right in and taught myself enough web dev to build out the founders’ vision. I learned a ton.
In 2018, we were part of Y Combinator’s winter batch and I took the title of CTO. Three years and a pivot or two later, SharpestMinds has become a marketplace for peer-to-peer income share agreements. We’re still a small company, but we’re profitable and our ambitions are high.
I’m still learning as I go. The years ahead will be harder. The challenges will be tougher. The lessons learned will be bigger.
I’ve already developed a habit of blogging about these lessons at russellpollari.com, but I think the newsletter is a better medium for sharing them. I feel less pressure to be formal, and more room to experiment with formatting and style. Subscribe to follow along.
